Mayapur (Mayäpura)[1] is a community in Bamanpukur in the Nabadwip CD block of the Krishnanagar Sadar subdivision of the Nadia district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is located at the confluence of the Jalanji River and the Bhagirati River, a tributary of the Ganges. Followers of Gaudiya Vaishnavaism consider the area to have spiritual significance.
Etymology
The name Mayapur is derived from Miyapur (Bengali: àύàг¿ààªàªà§à° [Miñäpura]), the Bengali name for a village famous for its settlement of Muslim fishermen. The name Miyapur appears in many government documents, including maps and surveys.

Gaudiya Vaishnava Temple and Monument
There are many Gaudiya Vaishnava institutions in Mayapur. The headquarters of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) is in Mayapur. The city is based on a distinctly Vaishnava religious tradition and is filled with temples dedicated to Radha and Krishna or Gaulanitai. Thakur built the Yogapith Temple, an ornate white building with a pointed pyramidal dome, surrounded by trees and located next to a pond at the birthplace of Caitanya Mahaprabhu. There are many Gaudiya Vaishnava organizations in Mayapur, the most important of which is the headquarters of ISKCON. The city has temples dedicated to Radha and Krishna or Gaulanitai. -Vaishnava Every year, devotees circumambulate various places in a group of nine islands called Nabadwip, where Lord Chaitanya spent his time. This Parikrama (circumambulation) lasts for about seven days. The event is around the festival of Gaur Purnima (Lord Caitanya’s Appearance day). Devotees from all over the world come to Mayapur to participate in this magnificent Parikrama to celebrate the Lord’s Divine Appearance Day.
Nabadwip is situated on the western bank of Bhagirathi in Nadia district of West Bengal. Mayapur is situated at the junction of Bhagirati and Jalanji. Nabadwip and Mayapur are famous for the temple of Shree Chaitanya Deb (1418-1533) and ISKON Chandrodaya.

1. Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math
Main tourist attractions of Nabadvipur. This temple is dedicated to Sri Chaitanya Dev who was born in Nabadvipur. This temple was built in 1941 by Om Vishnupad Srila Sridhar Dev Goswami Maharaj. It has more than 50 international centers around the world. Also known as Jal Mandir. You should visit the tombs of Sri Dev Goswami Maharaj, the tombs of Sri Govinda Dav Goswami Maharaj, the museum and the famous Gurikunda. Here you can see a temple surrounded by water and a small zoo where you can feed deers and peacocks.
