Jaipur is the most prominent city of the western Indian state of Rajasthan. There are multiple reasons which can individually identify the city of Jaipur as the topmost destination in Rajasthan. One reason is that it is the administrative capital of the state of Rajasthan

The city also has a huge recall value on tourist’s mind since this city is promoted in Golden Triangle tourism circuit of India. However, if there is a single reason that puts the recall value of the city in the epitome of a visitor’s mind is the unmistakable sight of the pink hue that encompasses the entire city.

The foundation of the city can be dated back during the eighteenth century AD, when the famous Rajput warrior and astronomer Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II set up his base in this city. Bathed in pink, no wonder that Jaipur is recognized across the entire world as the Pink City. The colour pink has always been associated with youth and exuberance and that is the exact charm that this city exudes.

The historical culture and traditions are still evident in the city’s perfectly preserved architecture, artifacts, textiles and jeweleries. Thinking about how this historic city adapted and transformed into the pink hue, the reason can be attributed to the stones that were used for the construction of the structures.

The planning of the city is credited to a Bengali Brahmin architect named Vidyadhar Bhattacharya, who used the Vedic planning science called Vastu Shastra in the year 1727.
